Taking Back Our Culture

A long time ago, our country was founded on Christian principles by men who whole-heartedly believed in the God of the Bible.  In those days it was not uncommon for Christianity to be found everywhere in society from the halls of government to public universities to the books that our school children learned to read from.  Our country was not set up as a theocracy, but it was set up upon the principles described in the Christian Bible.

At some point (as recently as the 1960's), we as a nation began to expell God from our schools, our public spaces, and our way of living.  The church adopted the position that Christians should be in the world but not of it and in doing so turned its back on our culture.  Churches became a place where you could go to escape the world or to find Christ if you wanted to, but the church has paid a steep price and has given up its position in each and every one of the seven foundations of culture.  Christians began creating their own schools and withdrew from culture, acting more like a private club than the lampstand that God desires.

This leaves us with a choice to make - will we continue to allow Satan and his minions control the high places in the seven foundations of culture.  Are we content to let him have them, or will we do something to reclaim them for Christ in an effort to turn our culture back toward God?

We have been so split in our thinking as Christians that we have been confused and have confused the world watching us. There are only two kingdoms and they are at war. We need to win for the kingdom of light by moving into these seven foundations of culture in the opposite way that Satan is working. 'Where he is spreading hate we must show love. Where greed prevails we must outdo everyone in our giving. Where intolerance is winning we need to show loyalty and forgiveness. God's Spirit enters into this world through His people, moving in the opposite spirit to wrest the power from the god of this world and give it to Jesus, who is King of kings and Lord of lords.

Culture Under Fire has prayerfully considered the current state of affairs and has come to the conclusion that it is time that we had an organized strategy to take back our position in the seven foundations of culture.  We will accomplish this by carrying out the following objectives:

1. Research the seven foundations and educate the Christian commnunity
2. Recruit and train culture warfare prayer warriors and develop an active prayer team
3. Build a resource network to carry out culture warfare operations
4. Execute campaigns designed to retake the high ground in the seven foundations

Objective 1: Research the seven foundations and educate the Christian commnunity.

The CUF blog reflects some of the research that we are continuing to do and reveals to the world the attacks that are going on in our culture.  In addition, we have forums where people can share experiences and stories about their observations in the seven foundations.  Additionally, we are recruiting a team of people that will focus specifically on one of the seven areas in order to conduct more detailed research.

If we are to have an impact on each of the seven areas, we need to know who occupies those places now.  We need to know who to support, who is open to a Kingdom approach to their industry, and where the opportunities are to make an impact in that particular area.  Who are our allies?  Who will stand in the way of our efforts?  What laws affect what we can do?  How can we best use our resource network to effect change?

Then once we have gathered data, we need to get the word out to every Christian so that we can recruit a prayer and spiritual warfare army.  We also need Christian individuals and businesses to join our network which ultimately will enable us to carry out active operations in each of the seven areas, and for that to happen, people need to understand the urgency of the problem.

Objective 2: Recruit and train culture warfare prayer warriors and develop an active prayer team.

We are to take territory from Satan in the place of prayer. With the power of the Holy Spirit, through the mighty weapons of spiritual warfare enumerated in Ephesians 6:10-20, II Corinthians 10:1-6, and James 4:7-10, we are told to pull down Satan's strongholds. We must pray against the enemy's influence in whatever area we are aware.

We have developed tools that allow specific prayer requests to be distributed to people who will committ to pray for one or more of the seven foundations.  We will work to create local and online prayer groups that will engage in intercession for the nations (Daniel 9, Nehemiah 9, Ezra 9).  These prayer teams will cover our organization, our campaigns, our people, our resources, and the leaders of the seven foundations of culture.

We believe that it is through prayer that battles can be won in the spiritual realm which ultimately manifests themselves in our physical world, and because of this we regard this function as critical to the success of our goals.  If America is to be restored as a nation “Under God,” we must prayerfully and intentionally work toward honoring His Name in all Seven Mountains. In First Timothy 2:1-4, Paul states, “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” Critical to the fulfillment of the Great Commission throughout the world is for God to develop leaders in each of these Seven Mountains who would be used to exalt Jesus Christ, and proclaim the Gospel freely to the Glory of God.

Objective 3: Build a resource network to carry out culture warfare operations.

Though we believe the battles are won through prayer and ultimately according to God's will and purposes, we also firmly believe that God has called us to be lights to the world and to be His hands and feet here on Earth.  Through our efforts in research and education, and according to what is revealed to us in prayer, we will undoubtedly find opportunities to impact culture in both big and small ways.

For example, we may see an opportunity to campaign for a godly leader or an important political issue.  Or we may see an opportunity to show love to a group of people who believe that Christians are judgemental.  Or, we may identify a chance to expose a truth or uncover an injustice.  No matter what the opportunity, these operations will require time, talent, and resources.

CUF will build a network of resources to use to carry out operations in our culture.  This network will consist of businesses that agree to offer their products and services either free of at greatly reduced prices for culture warfare operations.  It will also consist of people willing to donate time, talent, and resources (money, transportation, lodging, professional services, etc.).

In exchange for a business's willingness to participate in the network, we will promote network businesses on and offline and offer business support services at greatly reduced prices (printing services, accounting, websites, etc.).  As our network members help to promote each other and use each other's serices, we increase our ability to carry out more and more operations.

Objective 4: Execute campaigns designed to retake the high ground in the seven foundations.

As opportunities are identified to make a difference in our culture for Christ, we will create detailed plans to carry out a culture warfare operation.  It may involve anything from helping to introduce legislation to baking cookies for teachers and everywhere in between.  Through these operations we will impact the seven foundations and little by little we will begin to retake these foundations for God.  If our efforts help even one person come to know Christ then we will know that our work will not have been in vain.

We understand that it may not be possible to win every battle or even to completely turn our country around, but we endeavor to do everything short of sin to accomplish the mission that God has layed upon our hearts.  God has given us a beautiful country full of awesome people that He has created.  Our job is to help those people know Him, and carrying out these operations is one component in God's overall plan.

As we disciple the nations by striving for godly economic systems, Bible-based forms of government, education anchored in God's Word, families with Jesus at the head, entertainment that portrays God in His variety and excitement, media that is based on communicating the truth in love, and churches that serve as sending stations for missionaries into all areas of society, we will see the fulfillment of the Great Commission and multiplied millions coming into the Kingdom of God. As we do this, Jesus promises, "I am with you always, even to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:20)
